Hello and welcome to Musings of an Imperfect Mom. I’m Kelly, and I’m thrilled to have you join me on this journey. As an imperfect mom of three children spanning ages 27, 14, and 11, I’ve experienced the beautiful chaos of parenting across a significant age gap. I’m excited to share insights from this unique journey as we get to know each other better.
In addition to our lively household of humans, we share our space with three dogs, a cat, and a bunch of show cattle. My husband and I have been married for 21 years, and we reside in a quaint rural community on our small family farm, where we raise cattle. Despite our rural lifestyle, both my husband and I balance full-time jobs; I’m a dedicated 6th-grade teacher, while my husband works as a research and development engineer.
Transitioning from city life to farm living was initially daunting for me, having been raised in a larger city just 30 minutes away from where we now reside. However, over the years, I’ve come to embrace and adore this lifestyle. Our family farm, owned by my mother and father-in-law and shared among my husband’s siblings, has become a cherished sanctuary where we’ve made lasting memories and shared countless cherished moments. It’s more than just a home; it’s a vibrant hub of activity and connection, enriching our lives in countless ways.
Our children keep us on our toes with their interests and activities, ranging from showing cattle in 4H to pursuits in acting, music, soccer, and martial arts. Despite our attempts to limit their engagements, their passions and talents continue to blossom, ensuring that our lives are anything but dull.
